Boxing lessons FAQ
Straight answers to the things people ask before they book: prices, what to wear and bring, how booking and paying work, and what happens in your first session with Nap.
01
Prices and booking
What sessions cost, how requests work and when you pay.
How much does a 1-2-1 boxing session cost?
A 1-2-1 session with Nap costs £30. If you train regularly, a bundle of 4 sessions costs £110 (£27.50 a session, saving £10) and a bundle of 6 sessions costs £150 (£25 a session, saving £30).
How much are the women’s class and private group sessions?
The Saturday women’s class costs £6 per person. A private group session costs £35 per session. Nap will confirm the details for your group when he confirms your booking.
How does booking work?
Choose a session, pick a day and time from Nap’s live diary and send your details. You get a booking reference straight away and your time is held while Nap reviews it. When he confirms, you receive a calendar invite by email. You don’t need an account to request a session.
When do I pay?
New customers pay after Nap confirms the booking: the confirmation includes a secure Tide payment link for your session. Bundles of 4 or 6 sessions are different. You pay for those first on Tide, then Nap adds the sessions to your email address.
How do I pay?
Payments are made online on Tide’s secure payment page. Your payment details go to Tide, not to this website.
How long is my requested time held?
Your time is held while Nap reviews your request. The screen you see after sending your request shows exactly when the hold ends. If the request isn’t confirmed by then, the time is released and you’re welcome to request another.
What if Nap can’t do the time I picked?
Nap will let you know by email, and you can pick another time from the calendar. Nothing is charged for a request that isn’t confirmed.
Can I cancel or move a booking?
Yes. Sign in to My bookings with the email address you booked with to cancel a session, or to move a confirmed session to another free time. You can also email Nap. Nap will confirm any notice period for cancelling when he confirms your booking.
02
Your first session
What to expect, what to wear and how to look after yourself.
I’ve never boxed before. Is that OK?
Yes. Beginners are welcome in every session, and Nap coaches all levels, from complete beginners to experienced boxers. Tell him about your experience when you book and the session will be pitched to suit you.
Do I need to be fit to start boxing?
No. You don’t need to be fit before you start; your fitness builds as you train. Work at your own pace, and tell Nap about any injuries or medical conditions before your first session.
What happens in my first session?
Nap starts from wherever you are. If you’re new, that means the basics, such as stance, guard, footwork and simple punches, at a pace that suits you. If you’ve boxed before, tell him what you want to work on and he’ll pitch the session to your level.
What should I wear and bring?
Wear comfortable sportswear and trainers, and bring a bottle of water and a small towel. If you have your own gloves and hand wraps, bring them too. Otherwise, ask Nap about kit when he confirms your booking.
I have an injury or a medical condition. Can I still train?
Tell Nap about any injury or medical condition before you train, using the notes when you book or by email. If you’re not sure whether boxing training is right for you, check with your GP first.
Where do sessions take place?
Sessions take place in Sheffield. Nap will confirm the details when he confirms your booking.
When are sessions available?
Sessions run on early mornings, daytimes and weekends. The booking calendar shows the times that are actually free, checked live against Nap’s diary.
03
Women’s class and groups
The Saturday women’s class and private group sessions.
Who is the women’s class for?
It’s a female-only class on Saturdays for women of every level, including complete beginners. It focuses on fitness, technique and confidence.
What time is the Saturday women’s class?
Pick a Saturday in the booking calendar to see the class start time and how many places are left. If no Saturdays are showing yet, email Nap and he’ll tell you when the next class is.
What is a private group session?
A boxing session just for your group, booked at a time that suits you. Bring friends, family or colleagues. Tell Nap how many people are coming when you book, and he’ll confirm the details for your group.
04
Prepaid sessions and accounts
Bundles, accounts and how to get in touch.
How do session bundles work?
Pay for a bundle of 4 or 6 sessions on Tide. Nap then adds the sessions to your email address. Sign in with that email and they appear in your account automatically, ready to book any free 1-2-1 time instantly.
Can I use prepaid sessions for the women’s class or a group session?
Prepaid sessions are for 1-2-1 coaching. The women’s class and private group sessions are requested and paid for separately.
Do I need an account?
No. You can request a session without one. An account helps if you have prepaid sessions, or if you want to see, cancel or move your bookings in one place. Sign in with the same email address you booked with and your bookings will be there.
How do I get in touch with Nap?
Email Nap at nap@southyorkshiresweetscience.co.uk. No question is too small, especially if you’re new to boxing.
Still got a question?
Email Nap directly. No question is too small, especially if you’re new to boxing. You can also read the booking terms.
